Home-service platforms do not all use one workflow. Some let homeowners browse and contact a business. Others also offer instant booking, quote requests, or matches. The options and follow-up can vary by service, location, and the request path. Compare the current screen in front of you, not an old summary of how a platform works.

How homeowner contact works

**SheFix:** Homeowners can browse profiles and contact a business, ask SheFix for suitable options, or ask SheFix to contact up to three professionals. Homeowner access is free, and a request for help does not require an account. The request form explains the available handoff before you submit.

**Angi:** Angi's current homeowner page describes instant booking, upfront pricing, and requesting and comparing quotes. The separate HomeAdvisor matching page says homeowners may receive information for up to four matched pros and that those pros may contact them. This is one described flow, not a guarantee that every Angi service uses the same process.

**Thumbtack:** Its current homepage says there are no calls or texts until the homeowner messages a pro. Its how-it-works page describes searching profiles, chatting with pros, and hiring. Its privacy policy says project requests may be provided to selected professionals in some cases. The practical step is to read the specific request screen and decide whether you want to message someone.

Before submitting anywhere, check who will receive your project description, whether you select the professional, and how follow-up starts. You can ask the platform to clarify if the screen is not specific.

How platform costs differ

SheFix charges homeowners nothing to browse or request help. Professionals choose a flat subscription. SheFix does not charge per homeowner lead or take a commission on jobs won through the platform. The professional's plan does not change the amount you pay for the project.

Angi says homeowners can use its services for free, and that its revenue includes professional advertising and paid homeowner memberships. Services involving instant booking, payments, or guarantees may have additional terms. Review the terms for the specific service you choose.

Professional charges on other platforms can depend on the product, service, market, and current plan. If you are hiring, focus on the estimate and contract you receive. If you are a professional, check the platform's current business pricing directly before joining.

What verification and protection mean

A profile, review, screening label, or platform guarantee can describe different checks and protections. Read the definition attached to the specific badge and check which person or business was reviewed, when the check happened, and what it covers.

SheFix publishes a defined verification status and explains its limits. A SheFix verification is a point-in-time review; it is not a background check, safety guarantee, price guarantee, or promise of workmanship. Homeowners should still confirm current credentials, insurance, references, and service coverage for the actual project.

What happens after the introduction

Compare how each service supports the next steps you need: getting a written scope, asking about a change, keeping messages together, documenting payment, and saving warranty or care information. Features differ across services and may change. Keep your own copy of estimates, approvals, receipts, and completion details.

On SheFix, homeowners can create a free workspace for project documents and messages. Whichever service you use, do not start added work until the change and its effect on price and timing are clear in writing.

Choose the process that fits you

Choose based on the amount of control, support, and recordkeeping you want. Check the current terms and request screen before sharing personal details. A directory match is a starting point for a conversation, not confirmation of availability or fit.
